Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary Extended-Protection: High level of unreasonable and arbitrary edits.

Hi, please temporarily make this article extended-protected because there are too much people editing with many errors and also a low level of vandalism have occurred on this article. Also, there are a bunch of unnecessary and arbitrary edits. 2601:646:8003:6B20:F819:E192:5DCA:B36F (talk) 06:56, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 13:57, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Addition of content sourced to IMDb or unsourced, not neutral in tone, editor's username suggests conflict of interest. Recently protected fir the same reason, expired a week ago. Tacyarg (talk) 08:52, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:02, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary full protection: Content Dispute/Edit Warring. — DaxServer (t·m·e·c) 08:53, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Supporting a temporary FP, users Jayanthkumar123 and SaibaK been edit warring. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:24, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note: One user partially blocked for 24 hours and the other warned about edit warring. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 14:11, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement. Per WP:PIA, non ECP users changing the results of the battle Wiiformii (talk) 15:14, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – edit warring. IP-hopper keeps reverting back to a version with a needlessly longer summary. CRBoyer 15:33, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Article has been subjected to mass sockpuppet edits since at least March 2024. Looking through its history: Sabtamarka, Jinsicad, Philantro Man, Thehamid, Ynilsa, Service Providers, Coastalmerch and possibly others are all sockpuppets constituting the vast majority of edits (except for editors like Whoopsawa who are trying to clean up some of the sock edits). Many of the IP edits are likely logged-out socks as well. R Prazeres (talk) 16:43, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 16:48, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – An IP user who, for many years (going back to at least May 2013), has been obsessively trying add false information about a non-existent crossover between this Disney anime series and characters from the non-Disney-owned educational animated children's series Dragon Tales (along with other IPs such as Teletubbies) has returned after over two-and-a-half years since their last series of edits to continue their years-long attempt to add their crossover idea to the article. Their unusual obsession with this idea and long history of vandalizing edits should prove that this article needs an indefinite semi-protection to prevent any future attempts to restore these edits.

Here's a history of the days their edits were reverted (in reverse chronological order):

Reverts to Stitch! over fake Dragon Tales and other IPs crossover

    WPA (talk) 17:09, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for the collapsible list if it's not appropriate to use here, but I didn't want my report to appear so overwhelmingly large by using a regular, unhidden bulleted list.–WPA (talk) 17:14, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Heartfox (talk) 17:34, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Ongoing false statements about a Paramount takeover, per previous edit protection and Talk:ITV_plc#False_take-over_claims. Belbury (talk) 18:42, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – see page history, persistent effort by IPs who I can only assume to be an LTA to falsify referenced content i.e. subtle vandalism. Loafiewa (talk) 18:48, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Obviously something happening in the news as the article is attracting a lot of brand new accounts adding very childish vandalism to this BLP. 2A00:23C5:50E8:EE01:DC2A:AEE4:6DD1:DFAF (talk) 19:18, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Elli (talk | contribs) 20:32, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Page is protected so you need to be extended confirmed to edit it, but for some reason, you only need to be autoconfirmed to move it. I think that the move protection should be upgraded to extended confirmed protection to match edit protection BombCraft8 (talk) 19:36, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
