Lumpkin is the county seat of Stewart County in Georgia's Classic Heartland.

[edit]The city was named after Wilson Lumpkin, who served two terms as governor of Georgia, and as a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator. In 2019, it was home to about 1,300 people.
