Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the event “Latin America, The United States and Spain in the Global Economy”, held at The Paley Center for Media in New York City. At a time when the world economy is at a turning point and where transatlantic ties have become a fundamental pillar to overcome all the challenges we face, meetings such as this one are extremely important to debate and share views to achieve the goals set. It has been an incredible opportunity to attend such an important and enriching meeting in which we have discussed growth prospects in the Americas, energy transition, strategies for a more sustainable global economy, generative AI in companies, digital transformation, the impact of technology in multinationals, etc. All of this is supported by important figures from the private sector such as ElPais News Grupo ACS Spain-US Chamber of Commerce Aerolineas Iberia WallmartShoppingMall Avangrid DLA Piper EDP Nestlé Google INDRA As well as major representatives of the public sector such as José Manuel Albares, Javier Treviño, Carme Artigas, Alicia Barcena Ibarra, Luis Abinader, and Pedro Sánchez. I’d like to highlight the talks focused on the impact of AI on business and life. The first, ‘The State of Generative AI in the Enterprise: Now decides Next’, led by representatives from Nestlé and Google Domingo Gonzalez and Pilar Manchón in which they highlighted the great potential of this technology to drive our world. And they added something I agree with, which is that it is up to us to take the necessary steps and precautions to use AI in the most constructive, fair, and appropriate way to advance society. I also found very important the aspect of AI as a tool to achieve a more sustainable and zero-emission world, as well as the need to find a common regulatory framework to ensure its correct use, and to avoid the differences between more and less advanced countries in this matter increase even more. They also stressed the need to find a formula that strikes a balance between creating with AI, while protecting intellectual property and art. Out of the panels, I enjoyed meeting clients such as Nestlé and Avangrid, with whom it is always a pleasure to talk and exchange views. I can only thank the organizers for inviting me, the amazing participants in the various panels, and all the people with whom I have been able to share networking breaks and who I am sure will come up with much more in the future.
