Hunters. In search of a lost identity (1998)
As usual, Eurispes offers its contribution of analysis on the issue of hunting on the eve of the general opening of the hunting season. A tradition that still lingers on cultural issues that are difficult to unravel and which overshadows the profound changes affecting the sector, impacting, through the new rules, on the very culture and philosophy of hunting, and even making the traditional confrontation between environmentalists and hunters obsolete.
There is an urgent need to work towards a new and more mature coexistence of the different stakeholders, which would greatly benefit the land management processes.
The Ambiti Territoriali di Caccia (territorial hunting areas) show how those interested in safeguarding and enhancing natural resources can work together to achieve common goals. Starting from the experience of local problems, hunters seem to recover and reconstruct their identity and role. This change in attitude confirms a cultural evolution that now sees the hunter as an essential player in protecting and enhancing the environment and the territory.
