Newsweek is honored to invite you to Pillars of the Green Transition Conference on September 25th at our headquarters in One World Trade Center, New York, as part of Climate Week 2024.

For the first time since the Paris Agreement in 2015 the international community took stock of the progress made to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The conclusion: progress has been slow across all areas of climate action. Governments and businesses must act quickly to make their pledges a reality.

During this year's Climate Week, Newsweek will take an in-depth look at pragmatic ways in which key economic sectors — energy, transportation, and industry — are investing and innovating to decrease emissions and achieve net zero.

Climate Week NYC takes place every year in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly and is run in coordination with the United Nations and the City of New York.

Each year, business leaders, political change makers, local decision takers and civil society representatives of all ages and backgrounds, from all over the world, gather to drive the transition, speed up progress, and champion change that is already happening.

Businesses all over the world are innovating and collaborating in new ways to help the world get closer to net zero. Distinguished speakers from a variety of economic sectors will propose innovative ideas and strategies for shifting the balance in favor of a Better Planet.

Many of the technologies needed to reach our climate goals are already available. The challenge now is to accelerate deployment. What are the main barriers and how can we overcome them?

While billions of dollars have already been pledged to climate action, we are still short of the amount needed by businesses and nations to implement climate policies, and adapt to climate change. What can be done?

The Davines Group established Europe's first regenerative organic agriculture research and training center in 2021, in collaboration with the Rodale Institute. The R&D center is located in Parma, Italy, across from Davines Village. 

Emmanuel Abate

President, Genomic Medicine, and Head of Sustainability, Cytiva

Emmanuel Abate works to bring out the best in his team to serve the scientific community working on the next medical breakthrough. The Genomic Medicine business includes solutions to help advance the discovery and manufacturing of viral vector, cell therapies, and nucleic acid-based therapies. As he is deeply connected to nature, our surroundings, and our role in protecting people and the planet, Emmanuel also leads the company-wide Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. 

Helen Clarkson

CEO of Climate Group

Helen is an experienced leader on international climate and humanitarian issues, with over 20 years of experience in government and corporate engagement. Under her leadership, Climate Group has created coalitions of over 500 ambitious companies through initiatives such as RE100, EV100, ConcreteZero, and SteelZero, which are crucial in sending demand signals to markets and policy-makers to drive the energy transition, as well as building the Under2 Coalition of state and regional governments, and Climate Week NYC, a major event in the international climate agenda. Helen was awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to the climate.

Scott A Raubenstine

Vice President of Agricultural Services for Perdue AgriBusiness LLC

Scott’s responsibilities are primarily focused on Perdue grower engagement and support in “Raising A Better Future” for our growers, business partners and the planet.  Agricultural Services offers seed technologies, grower risk management tools, agronomy services and grower support implementing the Perdue Regenerative Agriculture and Sustainability Programs.  Scott develops relationships with growers to help them link their farms with the increasing focus on regenerative agriculture.

Max Dougherty

Vice President of Business Development Bayer Ecosystem Services

Max leads Business Development for Bayer’s carbon and regenerative agriculture venture. In this role, he spearheads the development of strategic partnerships with companies across the agri-food value chain, focusing on achieving their decarbonization and regenerative agriculture goals. Max is passionate about developing business models and product concepts that leverage market-based incentives to drive the sustainable transformation of the agrifood sector, benefiting farmers, consumers, and the environment.

Dr Etosha Cave

Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Twelve

Etosha Cave is the Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Twelve, the carbon transformation company creating a future through the science of electrochemistry. At Twelve, Etosha leads efforts applying her research skills in electrocatalysis to convert captured carbon dioxide into valuable chemicals, fuels and other essential products typically made from fossil fuels. Her discoveries in electrochemistry have led to groundbreaking technology with applications that can disrupt traditional supply chain models across a variety of global industries including automotive, aviation, fashion and consumer-packaged goods, among others.

Gilles leads a multicultural and multidisciplinary team that provides actions and solutions to meet the company’s net-zero trajectory, including the reduction of carbon emissions, the development and roll-out of a sustainable product portfolio, the responsible sourcing of materials and the restoration of biodiversity.
