#HotOffThePress – We are happy to announce that we will supply the cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for four new medium-sized gas carrier (MGC) vessels. The ships are being built at the Shanghai Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (SOE) shipyard for Greek operator Capital Gas Ship Management. While Wärtsilä has worked closely with SOE for several years, these will be the first Wärtsilä cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for vessels operated by Capital Gas Ship Management. This order further strengthens our position as the market leader in providing cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for MGC vessels. #HotOffThePress - Wärtsilä, in partnership with Chevron Shipping Company LLC, plans to convert one engine on six of Chevron Transport Corporation Ltd.’s LNG Carriers from dual-fuel (DF) to spark gas (SG) operation. The conversions are intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by lowering methane slip in support of Chevron Shipping’s broader efforts to reduce the carbon intensity of its operations. This marine industry first was made possible after two years of collaboration between the companies. "This innovative project represents a notable step forward on the road to advancing lower carbon fleets. Wärtsilä has an extensive track-record in reducing methane slip from LNG-fuelled engines, not only as newbuild solutions, but also through retrofitting existing installations.” - Roger Holm, President of Wärtsilä Marine & Executive Vice President at Wärtsilä Corporation. Last week, our Wärtsilä Marine management team visited the Norwegian market, the third largest Wärtsilä country, with around 900 employees. This region is a global leader in the decarbonisation of shipping, driven by progressive shipowners and advanced design and engineering capabilities. The roundtrip included visits to the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) test installation in Moss, the ammonia test engine at Energy House at Stord, and the Ship Electrification test base at Grunnavågen. The team also met several shipowners, including Eidesvik Offshore ASA, who will run the world’s first ammonia engine on their platform supply vessel (PSV). Key highlights from Wärtsilä in Norway: - Leading technologies in CCS, propulsion, electrification and power supply with new fuels (like ammonia). - World-class test facilities and industry clusters like Sustainable Energy Norwegian Catapult Centre and NCE Maritime CleanTech. - A successful service business at Rubbestadneset, ensuring operational excellence. Wärtsilä in Norway continues to spearhead the green transition in the maritime industry. #Norway #MaritimeIndustry #decarbonisation #FutureFuel #ammonia

”If we sum up the strategy for Wärtsilä today in one word, it’s decarbonisation.” Håkan Agnevall (CEO 2021-present) highlights how the shift towards greener technologies and energy sources presents Wärtsilä with many opportunities for helping our customers through the energy transition. However, he emphasises that the global move away from fossil fuels is a complex and gradual process. Håkan is interviewed by Georg Ehrnrooth (CEO 1991-2000). This is the final part of a 5-part CEO Stories series marking our 190-year anniversary. Our CEOs from the past four decades got together to reflect on the transformations of the past and those still to come. Dive into other stories that shaped our legacy and future. https://lnkd.in/geNbbgrw #CEO #LeadingTransformation #leadership #Wartsila190

#HotOffThePress - We are happy to announce our renewed partnership with Aqualectra to support the decarbonisation of the beautiful island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.🌎 The latest project involves a new 38 MW power plant equipped with 4 Wärtsilä 32 engines. The Salu Power Plant will provide efficient grid balancing as the level of renewable energy in the system increases. This plant will immediately become one of Aqualectra’s most fuel-efficient plants. In May, Aqualectra placed an order with Wärtsilä for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as well as Wärtsilä’s GEMS Digital Energy Platform. This marked a significant step towards a sustainable energy future for Curaçao.🔋 Read more about how we are powering sustainable change in our latest announcement: https://wartsi.ly/4etvmZq Wärtsilä Energy | #Curaçao #RenewableEnergy #decarbonisation #EnergyTransition #PowerPlant

#HotOffThePress - Since the first conversion in October 2022, Wärtsilä has reported CO2 emission reductions equivalent to the annual emissions of 17,000 cars across ten vessels retrofitted with its Fit4Power solution. With decarbonisation high on the maritime agenda, retrofit technologies, such as Wärtsilä’s Fit4Power solution, have the potential to enable compliance with the rising tide of regulatory requirements. For many ship operators and owners today, the aim is to find flexible solutions that can assure fleets’ long-term fitness in terms of economic performance and environmental compliance. “Our Fit4Power solution is a key element in Wärtsilä’s committed strategy to support decarbonised shipping. Improving engine efficiency and optimisation with solutions such as Fit4Power is one of the simplest and most cost-effective means of reducing emissions.” - Andreas Wiesmann, General Manager, Global Sales, 2-stroke Engine Services at Wärtsilä Marine.
