Fresh snow in the mountains this morning, which means it’s officialy the time of year when we ✨️fatten the Spart✨️

Pretty sure if you checked my most-uttered phrase every year for the last 10 years would be “no, Sparta.”

I’ve been thinking about this for a while but I’m really baffled. I saw someone post a while back that Collies are getting larger, their Collie (quite small) is a more traditional size, but everyone I’ve asked who was in the breed 50 years ago agrees that Collies are getting smaller (this was even a complaint 50 years ago!). I don’t know where this idea comes from. Maybe Collies in, like, the late 19th century were smaller, but it seems to me that they were declining in size as early as the 70s, where I’ve found articles bemoaning that Collies are turning into Shelties or that Collies aren’t over 75 pounds anymore.

i think people vastly underestimate how nice it is to train a dumb dog

i agree that smart dogs are more stimulating and exciting, but consider working with a dog whose every thought is one you have introduced

They keep telling me this is a “workmanlike” sheltie but im not convinced tbh

Semi relevant update as even without the help of our ~workmanlike~ sheltie, the baby bantam cochins did end up getting a new house!
