    Beaming up the virtual feed from Mars takes about 20s, be patient while loading the battle simulator soldier.

    # change execution bit
    chmod +x poom_<version>
    # launch game
    ./poom_<version>
    

    Standalone Version

    In you own Pico8 "devkit", you can download standalone zip package.

    Recommended setup (adjust to your OS):

    mkdir poom
    <path to pico>\pico.exe -home .
    cd poom\carts
    REM change xx to actual version number
    unzip poom_standalone.xx.zip

    Great game! Originally just played the Pico-8 game, then discovered this! (More levels, yay!!!)

    the cyberdemon boss can easily be beaten by first triggering him, then walking to the starting place and he just stares at you while you kill him

    So, how long is the final boss supposed to take?
    Because I completely exhausted all my ammo on him, all the reserves, and he's still alive, even after punching him multiple times he's still there.

    (No, it's not a skill issue.)

    what is your difficulty level?

    cyber has a lot of hp but definitely enough ammo on level to kill him - should take about 2-3 minutes (firing/dodging/getting ammo)

    The Easiest.  I spent around maybe 5 minutes on my longest, used all the ammo that time.

    ok - will be afk for several weeks but will try once I come back, in case there is a bug somewhere.

    I might try again to see if it really is a bug or a skill issue.

    Ich finde das Spiel sehr Unterhaltsam. Es wurde gut gemacht.

    Es ähnelt dem Spiel "Doom" sehr, dies soll es ja auch, daher ja auch der Name "Poom". 

    Ich finde immer wieder diese '2D/3D' Grafik cool, weil das Spiel 2D aber auch irgendwie 3D ist :D

    the sides on this door, when opened, are transparent. jean smithers reported on this happening to other doors on both this and the next level as well (i haven't gone further than this as of this post).

    otherwise, decent demake so far. wish it had an automap, but i can exist without it.

    I'm getting "The application “poom_1.9” can’t be opened" in OSX. I'd love to have the standalone version on my laptop.

    I don't have a Mac so little I can do.

    I installed Pico-8 for MacOS and played it there. I also have it running on my Powkiddy X55 through JELOS.

    what an awesome demake, i loved how you balanced the different weapons to make them stand apart from how you use them in the original doom, with the shotgun you really have to get in their face, and the chaingun slowing you down is a nice idea to make the plasma gun feel like a great upgrade. i was underwhelmed by the rocket launcher though, i think sometimes it wouldn't take an imp down in one rocket, and i would make it have a larger blast radius. 

    Love the maps and the sprites too, you made everything work great with the limited palette

    in brazilian portuguese, "poom" sounds like "pum", and that's how we say fart in Brazil

    damage is incredibly inconsistent and 15hp medkits do not help at all when the shotgunners and imps can easily kill you forcing you to restart the whole level, while you can stand nose-to-nose with an enemy and shoot them only for nothing to happen. im only on defiled realm but cacos have far too fast projectiles and imps have a fast fire rate but slow enough projectiles that you can hide in a corridor then dip out and immediately die to their fireballs

    You must be on the hardest difficulty then, because I can tank more that 5 imp shots in a row and be fine, and seemingly dozens of Caco shots.

    Then again, I am on the easiest difficulty...

    This whole game makes me jumpy and nervous, such as the dark environments, the enemies, and for some reason the 3D graphics too. I am scared of rounding a corner in this game because who knows what will jump at me.8/10 Rubber Chickens. P.S, how do you acquire new weapons?

    After you kill the first-of-many shotgun-wielding mainiacs, there should be a door. press space.
