Not an ordinary cucumber! This cucumber was smuggled with one of the truck drivers from the south of the Gaza Strip to the city of Azza. I was lucky to get it as a valuable gift from my husband’s friend. Then I decided to give it to my mother, who kept it for a day and then sent it to my sister, who divided it into two halves. Half I made a salad with and the other half I shared. With her neighbor. One smuggled cucumber was happily eaten by 15 people. Muhammad is a photojournalist and he got a very serious head injury while covering the horrors happening in Gaza which almost took his life. Safaa herself is a photographer. They have two children, Wateen (7) and Naya (4).

It's kind of telling to see some of the exact same people who've cheerfully been making and/or circulating those "political action is supposed to be disruptive – if it was easy to ignore it wouldn't work!" posts turn around and jump on the "these Palestine fundraising requests making it mildly inconvenient to curate my Tumblr inbox must be part of some nefarious scheme" bandwagon. Like, disruption is good right up until the point it affects you personally, eh?

"But some of them are scams" sure, but so what? All humanitarian crises attract vultures – there's no reason to expect this one to be the exception. If you think you've got a scammer on your hands, the appropriate response is to block and move on; it's certainly not to participate in the targeted public harassment of folks who've taken it upon themselves to curate lists of vetted fundraising efforts on the basis that you think some of the entries on their list have weird vibes.

i think this about sums it up. JK Rowling doesn't really even believe Imane Khelif is trans. she just believes all Black women are male, cis and trans alike. to her, womanhood is a privilege that can (and should) be ripped away from any group of people she doesn't like. it isn't an internal inconsistency that this is now being applied to cis women of color -- she doesn't even really believe trans women are men; this is just the justification she uses to degender & dehumanise us, and now it's the justification she uses to degender & dehumanise other women she doesn't like too. simple.
