Apple is seeking to avoid DMA obligations related to its App Store and the interoperability of its operating system. The FSFE aims to protect Free Software against monopolistic corporate control.

After the recent news that funding for the Next Generation Internet initiative would be cut for the next phase of Horizon Europe, the European Commission has expressed vague support for Free Software. Unfortunately it is failing to provide concrete examples on how to do so. This has highlighted the fragility of funding for Software Freedom and the need for change in the long-term.

Ik was jarenlang een roepende in de woestijn bij het uitleggen van de principes achter Vrije Software en haar belang voor mensen in mijn land in verschillende artikelen en blogposten. Ik wilde behoren tot een organisatie met als doel het bouwen aan de digitale samenleving met 100% vrije software. Het steunen van de FSFE.
Ik geloof dat Vrije Software kan helpen om onze samenleving fundamenteel ten goede te veranderen en ik geloof dat de beste manier is om dat samen met andere vrijwilligers uit heel Europa te doen!
Tegenwoordig maken we dagelijks gebruik van sociale netwerken, laptops en mobiele apparaten. En heel vaak verliezen we in al deze gevallen de belangrijke sociale en politieke visie van Vrije Software. Dankzij de FSFE, FSF, vergelijkbare organisaties en vele lokale groepen houden we de fakkel van een andere wereld, waar iedereen veel programma's en code kan gebruiken en delen, in stand. Het maakt niet uit in welk land u woont of hoeveel geld u eraan kunt uitgeven.
