In the last decades, the Mediterranean region is experiencing economic, social, and spatial changes in its structures. Today, cities are experiencing an increasing number of complex problems regarding internal and external connections, reflecting on the city structural realm. The physical transformation of territories in general and cities in particular are associated with external trends, such as migration, post-colonization affects, social changes, economic, and political activities. Abstract
Following the division of Cyprus in 1974, the definition of land- ownership in the northern part of Cyprus has changed, which is to this date is defined as the main obstacle for a resolution for the chronic Cyprus Problem. This controversial land-ownership can also be attributed as one of the factors which inhibit proper planning in the northern part of Cyprus. Two major, and disputed, types of title deeds were constructed and issued by the officials of the northern part of Cyprus to settle the refugees, to compensate for their lost land, and immigrants from Turkey, to help to develop the country, after the war on the island in 1974 to define ownership; Esdegar (equivalent or exchange property) and tahsis (property that has been assigned). The controversy over land ownership, coupled with the abrupt and ever-changing and ill-defined regional planning regulations, under the influence of the conflicted politics of Cyprus, has a great impact on how real-estate construction is developed over the years in northern part of Cyprus, which is sporadic and undefined and precedes regional planning. It is, therefore, the intention of this paper to address how land-ownership, in contested lands, influences planning regulations allowing ‘capital investment’ to shape regional development.

The citizens survive under constant threat, killing around 2,300 people according to the worldwide internal displacement statistics. The trail of destruction encompasses ancient cities as well like the UNESCO world heritage old city of Sanaa. The intention behind this paper is to deliver a detailed analysis and apprise Sana'a's current situation using CartoDb, then suggest responsive strategies per the needs of the phenomena. Specific strategies and approaches are to be mapped highlighting compulsory evacuation networks separately. First, the evaluation of the determined threat creating scenarios per each provisional scheme to control the crisis in a sequence; second, evacuation schemes are suggested in the urban scale, then third overlapping the strategies of phased evacuation into a sole arrangement scenario .
