hey—I'm fundraising on behalf of a friend ("N") who's in a sticky situation and prefers to stay anonymous

What’s the situation?

N is a young disabled trans woman living in the north of England, whose relationship with her long term partner has broken down, leaving her in an unsafe living situation which needs to change as soon as possible. N, who has lived with her partner for a number of years, recently decided to end the relationship in part due to her attempts to adjust to her disability as it continues to encroach on more of her life, but also due to the long term effects of transmisogyny and sexual violence which have occurred and continued to preside within the relationship, becoming increasingly impossible to live alongside.

N currently works part time and due to her disability is working as many hours already as she is capable of. This provides a fixed limited income which isn't currently enough to support herself on her own. Whilst N is in middle of a number of processes of applying for benefits (PIP and Universal Credit), these take time and labour to pursue, could take weeks to finalise, and would still be unlikely to provide the kind of resources for N to set herself up in a sustainable and safe living situation without the support of a number of upfront costs outside even these means. Until this situation changes, N remains economically dependent on her ex-partner, with no alternative means of support, living in an increasingly unsafe, stressful and emotionally difficult environment for everyone in which N is finding it difficult to survive.

What does she need?

N desperately needs the financial support of this fundraiser to get safely housed and settled into a new flat on her own in the private rental sector. Because of her problems with income, we are aiming to raise enough money to pay for a portion of the tenancy in advance, which would allow N to circumvent proof of income checks (which often facilitate ableist discrimination from landlords) and to give her a few months to sort out her benefits applications so she can provide for herself long-term.

We all know It’s a difficult time of year to find spare cash, but N is a valued and loved member of her community and we really need your help. Any support is really appreciated.

ghelgheli

Hi all! Thank you for everyone’s generosity in supporting N in this huge life transition. She is currently nicely settling in at her new flat, and has both PIP and UC applications pending. However, she is still in need of funds both to keep her securely in groceries while she is waiting to hear back from the DWP, and also to help her afford various aids and appliances that will help her to support herself as a disabled person. Regular cleaning, cooking, and laundry, for example, are very difficult for her to keep on top of along by herself side her paid employment. With a little extra support, there are appliances that can help her with these tasks. N is really grateful for the assistance she’s already received from many friends and strangers, but there is still some way to go before she is really secure in her new life independently, so please keep sharing! Thank you all again for your help.

israel's minister of diaspora just straight up saying lebanon does not meet the definition of a sovereign country and neither do syria and iraq, netanyahu constantly trotting out maps of "greater israel" and no one says shit… using the same justifications that they have in palestine all year because they realized they would not only get away with it but be rewarded and celebrated for it…… joe biden too old and senile to run for a second term but still with it enough to stay in office for the last 100 days or whatever to sign off on this shit no lines no conditions while americans are too swept up by the spectacle of the election to give a shit and in fact are now falling in line and doing the work defending the genocide for him because kamala's Brat kamala's a Girlboss. absolute fucking nightmare.

do you ever like. i think about crushed i had pre hrt and they weren’t real but like. its bc i wasn’t real yet? i wasn’t enough of myself to know how to interact with others in that way. i was just latching onto the affection i was shown. i don’t think i figured out how to love and be loved or even like and be liked until after i transitioned. every single crush, every relationship, ever friendship even, feels so much more substantial bc like. i’m not a ghost anymore!

corollary of this is why i lost all of my pre-transition friendships except the one with the egg who came out a few years after

it's really bleak to think about bisan winning a peabody and now an emmy tonight for her reporting like yeah with one hand the american elite are giving her awards for her fearlessness and bravery in the face of unspeakable horror and with the other hand the american elite are the ones sending the bombs and the rest of american journalism and media as a field are constantly actively manufacturing consent for the genocide that forces her to keep getting in front of a camera to say it's bisan from gaza and i'm still alive. something something liberals don't believe in politics anymore just in bearing witness to suffering, except the suffering is something they are actively creating. just horrific dystopian shit

Red text on green banner reading "Help Marah and her family!"ALT
A picture of Marah studying computer engineeringALT

Marah @freepaleatine95 is a hardworking computer science student who has been helping to fundraise for her family for months, from the scorching dry season into the equally horrifying wet season. Her family has been displaced eight times and her parents are both elderly, sick with high blood pressure and untreated diabetes.

As a university student, Marah should be able to continue her studies and achieve her degree in computer science, experiencing the joy of the new school year along with the rest of the world. However, due to the ongoing attacks on Gaza, this has become impossible for her, and her family's livelihood was completely destroyed.

In the Gaza strip where they live, fearsome rains have begun to signal the beginning of winter. We were warned about this, and now it is beginning. The damage that these rains do to the displaced people of Gaza is absolutely astronomical.

The rains destroy tents, food, and clean water, and they also introduce terrifying diseases to people who are already struggling to survive.

Everything that would be safely managed in a normal situation is going wrong now, with flooding sewers, the spread of deadly diseases like polio, and the destruction of property everywhere, property that with the astronomically high prices of food and tents in Gaza is almost impossible to replace.

This is not a hypothetical situation. This is really happening.

Marah and the rest of the Baalousha family have experienced these rains tearing their tent apart, destroying their food and making them scared for their lives. This happened only three days ago on September 22nd, 2024, and this incident has hurt them horribly.

Many of the items that they have purchased with the help from your donations were destroyed as well. Their tent was flooded and they were left cold, hungry, and terrified.

Now, in a time defined by uncertainty, they need to be certain they will survive.

Let’s donate, share, and make sure that Marah and the rest of her family can buy a new tent, evacuate, and continue pursuing their studies with the rest of the students of the world. They deserve the right to safety, shelter, food, and water just like the rest of us. Despite fundraising for months, Marah is not even close to her goal- and you can help change that, one little bit at a time.

Please, help Marah and her family by taking a few minutes out of your day to donate, share, and support their campaign.

dont you ever get pissed off abt how many opportunities usa writers and artists have for just the fact they were born in the usa

aristotels

theres so much i could say about this but do i want to or do i want to just mind my own business

aristotels

this was inspired by me going thru random generators and trying to find a nice pseudonym for myself for my published fiction but its just so much more. books in balkans dont sell; and im not only coming from my position as a traditionally published author but my colleagues who are famous and established writers still dont earn a cent from writing and publishing in our mothertongue.

if you want writing to be your career, you better live in the imperial core and speak an imperial language. and if you dont, you have to work 200% harder than imperial authors because you have to either: 1) get your works translated which costs money 2) learn the language yourself and write in it, which actually isnt as easy as it sounds (though it probably does to the 90% anglo users of this site). 3) good luck with self-publishing under your non-imperial name lmfao 4) traditional publishing? probably out of reach for you in any case 5) no access to festivals/marketing/community etc 6) the algorithm, which shows people things "from their area" actively works against you.

im also an artist, i have an animation degree, im paid way less and have to take on dirt cheap work, i am not even considered for a job when the employers see my name, i have no access to studios or (proper) education, and i was forced to learn the imperial language JUST to make even a small dent in my art career. i would not be able to do what i do if i didnt speak english. not only did i have to learn the craft i also had to learn the fucking language. you have so many tutorials and books and everything available - while the rest of us dont.

🙏Help me 🙏

🇵🇸🍉🇵🇸

Hello, my name is Baraa Al-Sharafa, I am 15 years old. We are a family of 6 people, my mother, father and 4 young children, my youngest brother is 8 years old.

Since October 7, 2023, we have been suffering from a war that has destroyed our dreams, homes and agricultural lands.

image

During this war, my father was injured in the head and eye due to the brutal war, and my little brother, who is 8 years old, was injured in the head due to the bombing.

image
image

During this war, we endured many difficulties as we faced hunger and thirst due to the lack of clean water, and we often walk long distances to get one gallon of water.

image

We also suffered from repeated displacement from one place to another due to the horrific and brutal bombing.

We have been deprived of education and building a future due to the war.

image

We also face a shortage of medicines and vaccines while diseases are increasing and spreading among us, and my little brothers have not received their vaccinations. Skin diseases have spread among them.

image

We have also been suffering from the absence of cooking gas for 10 months, so we use wood Plastic is an alternative to gas, which leads to poisoning.

image

We also suffer from the lack of electricity and the frightening darkness at night, which exposes my brothers to extreme fear because of the sound of gunfire.

In addition, we have not had a fixed income since the beginning of the brutal war..

I appeal to you to help my family so that we can live a better life

Our goal is achieved with your help and donations

Here is my story 🍉

Hello, I am Eman from Gaza, a science teacher and a mother of five children: Nada (11 ) , Rahaf (8) , Sarah (5) , Sham(3) and Zeina 8 months. Before the war, our life was heaven. When the war broke out, everything changed. My school was bombed, our house burned down, my husband lost his job and my children lost their schools, thier toys, clothes, dreams and future.

We were displaced and displaced more than 10 times..

My little girl Zeina was born in the tent and you can imagine the extent of the suffering with the lack of health care, the absence of baby milk and the crazy rise in prices (Diapers, detergents and food )

My children suffer from skin diseases, water pollution and malnutrition with no medicines available .

Every day there is destruction and bombing.. My children live in real terror. They have lost their friends, relatives and dreams in this crazy war. Please help me and my children get out of Gaza. Help my children to live in safety and peace like the rest of the children in the world.

My children have lost a whole school year and if they can't get out of Gaza they will lose more school years. Help my children get their right to education and live in safety and peace like the rest of the children in the world. Save us from the hell of war.

Please help. Any funds raised will be used in daily survival and if enough is raised, to be able to evacuate Gaza. 🥺🍉
