Here are 4 stumbling blocks that make v7 notebooks impossible to use and why any sane person will continue to use v6 until they're addressed:

  1. "Make a Copy" removed from the File menu
  2. Syntax highlighting not on by default
  3. Context-aware auto-indenting not on by default
  4. Ctrl+F should bring up the browser text finder, not a jupyter specific one, because the jupyter specific one doesn't allow you to search printed outputs. The browser one is perfectly fine, please bring Jupyter v7 up to feature parity with v6 before replacing features that already come with the browser.

@ai-robert Thank you for your feedback! Your fourth issue is already covered in #7380. I'm not seeing matches for the first, second, and third issues in our backlog.

A "Duplicate" option in the File menu was added as a result of #7368.

Thank you for opening this issue @ai-robert! What version of Notebook 7 are you using (newest release is 7.2.1)? As mentioned by @JasonWeill, a few of the items have separate issues reported. There was an issue for Syntax highlighting reported in JupyterLab, jupyterlab/jupyterlab#14589. Would you be able to take a look and open a separate issue for those items that are still issues for you after trying the latest version?
