Nola didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six. Nola held San Diego scoreless through his first five innings before ultimately allowing three runs in the sixth, including a pair on a Luis Campusano homer. Still, it was a solid bounce-back outing overall for the 31-year-old Nola, who was tagged for eight runs in his last start against the Red Sox. Nola's 8-3 on the year with a 3.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 84:25 K:BB across 15 starts (94 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Tigers on the road early next week in his next outing.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Clemens (back) is "getting pretty close" to a return from the 10-day injured list after taking batting practice Monday, MLB.com reports. Clemens has been on the shelf since June 3, one day after being scratched from the lineup ahead of the Phillies' game against the Cardinals after his bat locked up on him during batting practice. He could go out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated from the IL.
Pache will start in center field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game versus the Padres. When Johan Rojas was sent down, the expectation was that Pache would be due for an uptick in playing time in center field versus left-handed pitching. However, he's in Tuesday's lineup against righty Michael King in just the second game since Rojas' demotion. Brandon Marsh will play left field and David Dahl will be on the bench.
Marchan went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 9-2 over the Padres. In his third big league game since 2021, Marchan had a banner night, reaching base in each of his four at-bats and driving in a pair. On Friday, he hit his first home run, and he followed it up nicely with this showing. With J.T. Realmuto going down with a knee injury, Marchan's only competition for playing time is Garrett Stubbs, whose current slash line of .191/.267/.206 leaves a lot to be desired.
Bohm went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Monday's win over the Padres. Bohm has been on a tear as of late, picking up his fourth consecutive game with multiple hits. He also has an RBI in five straight contests, which is the longest such streak of his career. The 27-year-old is up to 60 RBI this season, good for fourth in the majors. Bohm is in the midst of a breakout campaign with a .307/.359/.489 slash line and seven home runs through 70 games.
Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run homers and two walks in Monday's 9-2 win over the Padres. The veteran slugger got the scoring started for the Phillies in the third inning with a two-run blast off Randy Vasquez and later added another two-run homer off Adrian Morejon in the sixth. It was Schwarber's second multi-HR game this season and the 28th of his career. Schwarber batted .179 in his first seven games of June, but he's found his power stroke of late with five homers over his last seven contests. He's boosted his slash line to a season-best .253/.373/.457, and his 16 home runs are tied for fourth most in the National League.
Sanchez (4-3) went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) to earn the win Monday against the Padres. He gave up six hits, one walk, and struck out five. Sanchez was impressive Monday against San Diego as he allowed only one extra-base hit. It was the eighth start this season in which he's allowed one earned run or fewer. The lefty matched his season high for innings pitched and lowered his ERA to 2.91 in the process. The 27-year-old is tentatively scheduled to pitch again this weekend versus the Diamondbacks.
