Wilson failed to impress at spring practices, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic. Kosmider suggests Wilson seemed to have more trouble than rookie Bo Nix with the adjustment to coach Sean Payton's offense. While Wilson still has time to make an impression during training camp and the preseason, it sounds like he's currently positioned to be the No. 3 QB or even released. The Broncos acquired him in April for a late-round pick swap, trading down from No. 203 to 256 while taking on only half of Wilson's $5.5 million salary from the Jets.

Latest Broncos News
Zach Wilson : Struggles in spring practices
Wilson failed to impress at spring practices, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic. Kosmider suggests Wilson seemed to have more trouble than rookie Bo Nix with the adjustment to coach Sean Payton's offense. While Wilson still has time to make an impression during training camp and the preseason, it sounds like he's currently positioned to be the No. 3 QB or even released. The Broncos acquired him in April for a late-round pick swap, trading down from No. 203 to 256 while taking on only half of Wilson's $5.5 million salary from the Jets.
Adam Trautman : Dealing with abdomen injury
Trautman did not participate in Denver's mandatory minicamp Wednesday due to an abdomen injury, Jon Heath of USA Today reports. Coach Sean Payton said Trautman's injury isn't too serious and won't need surgery, calling it "basically a sprain." The fifth-year pro thus appears on track for the start of training camp late July. Trautman projects to contribute as a rotational part of the Broncos' tight-end corps behind Greg Dulcich (foot/hamstring), though the latter is still working toward a return to the field.
Tim Patrick : Moves past injury
Patrick, who is moving past last summer's Achilles injury, looked healthy and sharp during the Broncos' mandatory minicamp this week, Jon Heath of the USA Today reports. The report notes that Patrick -- who sustained a torn left Achilles late last July -- was one of the team's standout performers during Tuesday's session. As the coming campaign approaches, it remains to be seen what Patrick's role in Denver's offense will be, especially given that the 30-year-old last saw regular-season action in 2021. With Jerry Jeudy no longer in the mix, however, the pecking order behind top wideout Courtland Sutton has yet to be determined, which sets the stage for Patrick to vie for slotting in the coming months with Josh Reynolds, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Brandon Johnson and Devaughn Vele.
Andre Smith : Inks deal with Denver
The Broncos signed Smith on Thursday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. Smith, who spent his 2023 campaign with the Falcons, appeared in 11 games last season, tallying 19 total tackles, one pass defended and one forced fumble. Now that he's found a new home in Denver, the 27-year-old is expected to compete for a depth spot in the Broncos' linebacker corps.
Courtland Sutton : May still consider holdout
Sutton is still unhappy with his contract and suggested Tuesday that he might consider holding out from training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. It would be unusual for a player to report to June minicamp (the first mandatory team activities of the year) and then hold out for the start of training camp. Sutton revealed earlier this week that he had minor ankle surgery in the offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result, but it sounds like displeasure with his contract may also have been a factor. While most of his Tuesday comments reflected optimism about eventually reaching an agreement, Sutton also said negotiations "are at a stalemate in a sense." He has two years remaining on his contract, scheduled for $13.6 million in compensation this season ($2 million) and $14 million next year (none guaranteed). Sutton's comments suggest he wants a contract extension, but it won't be shocking if he ultimately settles for an adjustment that adds guaranteed money without adding years. Meanwhile, there's no indication of his ankle still being a problem.
Jonas Griffith : Back for minicamp
Griffith (knee) was spotted working out during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp session. Griffith missed all of Denver's 2023 campaign due to a knee injury suffered in early August last year, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. Across his two seasons in the NFL, the Indiana State product has appeared in 21 games and recorded 92 total tackles, including four tackles for loss, while also intercepting one pass. Now that Griffith is back at full health, he's expected to compete for a depth role in the Broncos' outside linebacker corps.
Riley Moss : Past back issue
Moss (back) was spotted participating in Denver's mandatory minicamp session Wednesday, Keith Cummings of Sports Illustrated reports. The second-year cornerback was held out of practices earlier in the offseason with a back injury, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. Moss saw minimal work on the Broncos' defense during his rookie campaign, tallying six total tackles while playing just 23 defensive snaps through 14 games. He's expected to compete for another depth role in Denver's secondary now that he's returned to form.
Courtland Sutton : Had offseason surgery, feels good
Sutton said Tuesday he underwent ankle surgery earlier this offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result of his rehab, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Sutton added that he feels healthy for the beginning of June minicamp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. It was presumed that Sutton's absence during OTAs related mostly to ongoing talks on a contract extension, which he said Tuesday are still at a "stalemate." The wideout still has two years remaining on his deal with Denver, but with only $2 million in guarantees.
