Her pacific-islands-inspired YA Fantasies have a heartwarming focus on family and setting that many books in the genre don’t normally highlight. In KoA Costis mentions the attendants harassing the king by putting sand in his sheets. But when Gen tells Irene about the various tricks people have been playing on him, sand in the sheets is NOT one of them. Because that one doesn’t matter because he’s not sleeping in his own bed anyways
My (late) contribution for Make A Terrible Comic Day! I’ve been going to the library more often lately so this has been coming up a lot, cause I want something to read but have had trouble finding anything that I’m comfortable with.
