The International Labour Organization will hold its 112th annual International Labour Conference in Geneva from 3–14 June 2024. Worker, employer and government delegates from the ILO's 187 Member States will tackle a wide range of issues, including: a standard-setting discussion on protection against biological hazards, a recurrent discussion on the strategic objective of fundamental principles and rights at work and a general discussion on decent work and the care economy. The Conference will also elect members of the Governing Body for the 2024-27 term of office&nbsp;&nbsp;

112th International Labour Conference

The Forum gathers over 250 partners of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, during the 112th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. Open to Coalition partners and ILO accredited tripartite delegations to the ILC. The programme of the Inaugural Forum is structured as a continuation of the ongoing collaborative effort initiated by partners on the thematic development of the Coalition. The plenary session highlights specific actions taken by partners to promote social justice, in alignment with the Coalition's thematic areas. It features three thematic dialogues on:<ul><li>Building the resilience of societies</li><li>Improving the coherence between economic and social policies&nbsp;</li><li>Fostering social dialogue for shared prosperity</li></ul>Interpretation will be provided in English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese and international sign language.

The high-level roundtable will discuss the grave situation of trade union rights in Belarus with UN special rapporteurs.The event will provide an opportunity for reflection on how to best achieve implementation of the ILO resolution adopted on 12 June 2023 by the International Labour Conference which called for actions, under article 33 of the ILO Constitution, to secure compliance with the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry established to examine the observance by the Government of Belarus of the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 (No. 87) and the Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949 (No. 98).&nbsp;This high-level round table is part of the action plan adopted in March 2024 by the ILO Governing Body to implement the ILO Conference Resolution.&nbsp;The information shared during the High-level round table will be duly reported to the special sitting of the ILO Committee on the Application of Standards (CAS) held for the purpose of discussing the application of Conventions Nos 87 and 98 by the Government of Belarus and the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry, so long as this Member has not been shown to have fulfilled its obligations. The CAS special sitting will be held on Wednesday 5 June.

High-Level roundtable on Freedom of Association in Belarus

This event aims to convene experts, policymakers, international agencies, and community stakeholders to foster a shared understanding of the complexities of child and forced labour in Africa. By highlighting innovative strategies, sharing best practices, and forging effective partnerships, we aspire to provide inputs to regional/national action plans that addresses both the symptoms and root causes of these issues, making significant strides towards eradicating child and forced labour in Africa.

Knowledge sharing forum: Innovative solutions to reduce child labour and forced labour in Africa

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Declaration of Philadelphia, leading personalities from the world of work will gather to discuss the pertinence and relevance of its principles in the contemporary context of Latin America and the Caribbean. This meeting will focus on exploring the challenges and opportunities facing the region to ensure labour rights and promote social justice and decent work. Priority will be given to concrete actions to address persistent challenges, as well as new factors influencing the labour environment. (event in Spanish)
