A Writeblr Intro Post + Wip Masterlist? Is more likely than you think

Hello hello, how’s your day been? How’s the weather? Are you also constantly dealing with more ideas than you can handle? Yeah, me too.

This isn’t a reintro so much as it’s just a reorganization of my intro post, cause the last one hadn’t been updated since November 2022. Still, I’ll do it in case there’s new people coming this way.

~ About me

  • Hello!! I’m Mary (she/he/they)
  • A queer adult and indie amateur writer.
  • My main focus is writing novels, and my main genres are fantasy and mystery, tho I try to do a little bit of everything.
  • My first language is Spanish and my second language is English, so I usually write first in Spanish and then translate it

~ My published/self published writing

  • ¿Qué clase de Libro es Filoberto? – Short story. Available in Spanish.
  • Frankenmary – Short story. Available in Spanish.
  • Little Shadows – Short stories. Volume 1 available in Esp/Eng.
  • El arquetipo del Detective - Essay. Available in Spanish as part of an anthology here.

You can find links to read them and download them for free here, in my “more serious” writer’s blog.

~ My main wips

~ My side wips

This blog here is my main, and though I use it as a writeblr I also reblog and post whatever I like in here, so don’t get too confused by the mixture of posts. To avoid AI, I started a Patreon 100% for free where you can find my excerpts and writerblr games.

My asks are always open for whatever you feel like asking, and I’m willing to be tagged in any tag games, so feel free to include me!!

raise a glass to the posts you love that end up deleted. to the fanart and fanfics you lose track of and can’t locate. to the blogs you used to look through that ended up unexpectedly disappearing. to the things you didn’t archive because you always assumed they’d be there.

This is why reblogs are important. They keep circulating posts even when the blogs are long gone.

And this is why telling artists/writers/creators their work matters means so much. You might be the only one who says it.

It is entirely too easy to get tired or despondent or feel worthless and just give up.

Voyage Log 179: Our ship is due to receive a human crewmate. My colleagues are pleased. They have served with humans before. I've heard their stories and I must say, I have some concerns.

They're chaotic and messy and invasive. They talk. So much. I doubt I will become close to the new human.

Voyage Log 199: The new human arrived some time ago. They seem different from the way their species is typically described. They're..... quiet. They keep to themselves but aren't unfriendly when approached. I'm not sure what to make of them.

Voyage Log 210: Human Chris has taken sitting at the same table as me during meals. We don't speak and keep a respectable distance. It's... not unpleasant.

Voyage Log 219: Chris is fond of gardening as well! It is a difficult hobby to have on a ship. They have shared several tips as to how I can improve the health of my Hyacinths.

Voyage Log 241: I have been suspended from active duty for breaking Von's olfactory sensor. I assured the Captain that I did it on a whim and certainly not because Von destroyed Chris's Geranium. I am most definitely not attached to the Human.

Voyage Log 242: Chris has joined me in my temporary suspension. They kicked Von in his reproductive organ after hearing him calling me expletives. They told the Captain that they were definitely not attached to me either.

Folks have got to understand that they probably aren't messed up by some Secret Big Trauma that they just can't remember; but rather by a million tiny microtraumas that they do mostly remember but don't even register as traumatic because nobody actually understood that these things would cause trauma, much less stack on each other over the years.

Whether you're carrying one big rock or a big ol' bucket of sand, it's going to weigh on you just as much.

This is why psychologists have started taking more of an interest in CPTSD in the last 10-15 years. What most people know as PTSD is a response to a single, intensely traumatic event (or even a series of events). However, CPTSD (chronic post-traumatic stress disorder) is caused by living for years in a situation where your nervous system cannot catch a break. Even if nothing huge ever happened to you, you always had to be on guard for a thousand little things that could and did happen.

After years and years of this, your nervous system gets "stuck" in an activated threat response. It never really lets you rest, and if this started when you were a kid, you may not develop a lot of neural pathways that you should have, because your brain was too focused on keeping you safe to bother with little things like "genuine human connection" and "interpersonal attachment."

naamahdarling

No lie, Complex PTSD/CPTSD is HUGE.

If you are disabled, if you are queer, if you are chronically ill, if you are the survivor of a toxic but not abusive relationship, if you grew up or lived under the threat of harm but no "actual" harm (or "very little" harm) was done, you may have CPTSD that isn't getting caught because CPTSD looks different from PTSD.

At the risk of falling into a trivialization trap, a lot of things you may not perceive as traumatic actually are. I was embarrassed for a long time in both group and individual therapy to say anything in my childhood was traumatic, because I was sitting with people who had suffered horrible physical or sexual abuse. But here are some things that are, in fact, traumatic and - when they occur over a long period - can set you on a course of maladaptive coping for decades if not addressed:

  • Being told or shown that your emotions are not valid, that you have no safe place to express them
  • Parents or caregivers oversharing graphic trauma from their past with you
  • Threats of physical violence, even if not carried out
  • Being told or shown that affection or approval is contingent on competency or academic success
  • Prejudice from inside OR outside the family (homophobia, racism, body shame)
  • Mocking or dismissal of things that are meaningful to you

If you constantly feel unworthy, afraid, ashamed, or even flat and emotionless, it's worth exploring why. And, because you've been so consistently undermined and minimized, you may feel like a fraud for being upset or functioning poorly. You're not a fraud; it's years of conditioning telling you "I should be able to handle this" or "lots of people are worse off than I am so I shouldn't complain." Your conditioned brain is lying to you; you won't be able to open yourself to the joy of trusting relationships with others OR do meaningful things to help those who are worse off until you do the work to melt the block of ice surrounding you. All my love to you, friends.

I’ve finished my first week ever at a work ever (yay!) and I have now a sense of what the schedule I’m gonna be working with will be, which means I can start planning a personal schedule for my wips.

Im still halfway done with the registration of TMOWS for online indie publishing -gotta get that ISBN- and I also want to get as close as possible to finish the first draft of WCB book 2, not to mention continuing my side wips like LS and DK. I think I can get the first volume of DK done and ready this year while I juggle everything else plus my work.

I hope I’ll be able to go back into tag games here and excerpt sharing before Nanowrimo, tho there are probably gonna be more during it. Anyways, happy almost fall! Spooky season is upon us!!
