Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person isn't just a record scratch of a title. Following a teen vampire whose deeply sensitive nature makes her avoid feasting on humans, Mashable film editor Kristy Puchko called the film "a horror-comedy with bite and heart."

The feature directorial debut of Ariane Louis-Seize, Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person hinges on Sasha (Sara Montpetit), an adolescent blood-sucker whose parents cut off her supply of the stuff when she resists preying upon people. Facing a very real end to her immortality, she meets Paul (Félix Antoine-Bénard), a teen with fervent thoughts of death, and they make an agreement. As Paul and Sasha venture to meet Paul's bucket list of last rites, something more's in the air.

"You probably wouldn't expect a movie that begins with clown slaughter to be so sweet," writes Puchko. "Yet Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person neatly knits together its darkest elements with threads of whimsy, humor, and tremulous romance to create a vampire tale that is uniquely thrilling and a bloody good time.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person opens in in NYC and LA cinemas June 21, followed by a full U.S. rollout.
