Create a page for Albania and Tirana in Palatine German Wikipedia

[edit]

@Danny Benjafield (WMDE) Hi Danny!

I am from Albania and I have a request. I have seen that you are native to German language. I think you may also understand Palatine German dialect. If yes, can you create two pages for Albania and Tirana, the capital city of Albania, in Palatine German Wiki, with short content? I would thank you so much. If you aren't native to this dialect, ask a person you may know, via the Wikipedia private message.

Thanks GeriKola93 (talk) 08:46, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello @GeriKola93, thanks for reaching out. As an employee of Wikimedia, I don't add content to the Wiki Projects. This is a Staff policy.
Here is the community forum of the Palatine German Wikipedia, click this link to write a message there (in English) explaining what you would like done and someone from the Community may be able to help you.
Kind Regards, -Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 07:17, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Asking help from HE Wikipedia to test our first deployment?

[edit]

(Apologies for posting in English)

Hello everyone,

I'm Danny Benjafield from the Wikidata for Wikimedia projects development team at Wikimedia Deutschland. Over the past year, our team has been working to investigate ways to improve the relationship and integrations between Wikidata and the other Wikimedia projects.

After carrying out a Research project and talking to editors from different communities, we  decided to take Phabricator ticket: T66315 as our very first development task.

This task would move the Wikidata Item link (that takes you to the Q-Id of the corresponding article on Wikidata) from the ‘General’ sidebar menu, into the ‘In Other Projects’ sidebar menu.

Proposed change to the Wikidata Item site link

Before we do anything, we want to make sure that the community is willing to participate and accept this change and collaborate with us.

In short, we would like your approval to test this change on the Hebrew Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask them here, or you can post them to the Task Discussion page. Please feel free to reply in Hebrew or English, we will use machine translation to translate your responses.

If you are interested in following this topic or hearing about our future work, we invite you to subscribe to our Mailing List.

I will do my best to answer as soon as possible. Many thanks for your attention, - Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) (Community Communications, Wikidata For Wikimedia Projects) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:54, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata (item) is moving! Find out where

[edit]
Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T66315

Hello everyone, a small change will soon be coming to your Wikimedia project user-interface.

The Wikidata item sitelink in the ⧼tools⧽ sidebar menu will move from the ⧼general⧽ section into the ⧼in-other-projects⧽ section.

The Wikidata item link predates the existence of the ⧼in-other-projects⧽ menu section and so was added to the ⧼general⧽ section of the interface menu.

Many editors and discussions have suggested that it would be more appropriate to move this Wikidata item link to the ⧼in-other-projects⧽ section (as Wikidata is part of the Wikimedia projects family).

This change will be deployed with the latest version of MediaWiki MW-1.43.0-wmf.20, scheduled between 10 and 13 September 2024.

More information can be found on the project page. If you have any questions or feedback, please let us know on the dedicated Feedback page.

This task has been worked on by Wikimedia Deutschland’s Wikidata For Wikimedia Projects team. -14:22, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
