#ThrowbackThursday: Remembering the Euromed Migration V Training for Young Migration Professionals! 📅 Two years ago today, the first Euromed Migration Training for Young #MigrationProfessionals (Award in Migration Governance for Young Professionals) kicked off in Malta 🇲🇹 in collaboration with the Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean. 🌍 With four trainings in total, five expert trainers, and young professionals from nine countries across the southern Mediterranean, this programme was a milestone event creating a network of future young migration professionals within the Mediterranean. 🎓 Fully accredited by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority, these specialised trainings provided high-standard learning modules designed to equip migration policy-makers of the future with the key knowledge and skills they need. A heartfelt thanks to our trainers Dr. Giovanni Esposito, Dr. Andrea Terlizzi, Dr. Irene Cogliati Dezza, Ph.D, Ms. Veronika Bilger, and Dr. James Dennison for contributing to the lasting legacy of this training, the ICMPD Mediterranean and Euromed Migration team, as well as the alumni young professionals who made it a success. 🔵 #Professionalisation drives #MigrationCapacityPartnerships 🔵 #TogetherWeDeliver #MCPinAction

🌍 Celebrating World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 🌍 Today, we join the global community in recognizing the importance of cultural diversity in fostering dialogue and development. At ICMPD Mediterranean, we thrive on collaboration with diverse stakeholders where cultural perspectives are valued and heard and dialogues are fostered at local and regional levels. #Dialogue and #communication are fundamental to any effective partnership. To drive #MigrationCapacityPartnerships, dialogue must be established and maintained, in order to break barriers, build trust, learn from each other, and create positive change. This is why dialogue is a key component amongst many of our projects across ICMPD Mediterranean, just like with Euromed Migration and Mediterranean City to City Migration (MC2CM). #WorldDayforculturalDiversity

Throwback to #EMNC2023! 🌍 🟡 #Communication drives #MigrationCapacityPartnerships 🟡 Remembering the opening of the insightful Euro-Mediterranean #MigrationNarratives Conference (EMNC) held in Malta 🇲🇹 on October 5-6, 2023 in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta and the #ClubofVenice, as the annual communication event for EUROMED Migration V (EMM5). The Conference served as a vital platform for migration communication stakeholders and experts to strategize solutions for key communication challenges in the Mediterranean region, paving the way for constructive discourse and action. Under today's most pressing migration challenges, the role of migration narratives becomes ever more crucial, serving as an essential tool in shaping perceptions, fostering understanding, and enabling effective solutions, together with a Multi-dimensional #Governance 🔴 approach, driving #MigrationCapacityPartnerships further. 🌐 #MCPinAction #TogetherWeDeliver

🚨 NEW PUBLICATION ALERT 🚨 As part of our continuous efforts to highlight the role of #communication in driving #MigrationCapacityPartnerships, we released a new study by James Dennison in cooperation with European University Institute Migration Policy Centre's Observatory on Public Attitudes to Migration (OPAM) titled: 🟡 Communication and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration 🟡 🔍 Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programmes have emerged as a migration governance tool used by many national governments and supranational organisations in the 21st century. However, AVRR programmes have received several criticisms from academics and activists. The academic literature on measuring reintegration, identifying the causes of reintegration success, and identifying the causes of AVRR participation are nascent but provide a basis by which policymakers can understand how to improve AVRR outcomes. Dive into this study to identify how communication contributes to AVRR objectives. Download the full publication in English, French, and Arabic here: https://lnkd.in/dzDEZFQ

Director of the Institute for Migration Studies and Assistant Professor at the Lebanese American University
Our latest Euromed Migration and International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) study on unaccompanied and separated children in Lebanon, Jordan and Morocco investigates: (a) the specific migration aspirations and broader migration decision-making processes of unaccompanied and separated children, and (b) the factors impacting their protection and integration in their host societies. While many research initiatives embracing a child participatory approach have already been undertaken in Europe focusing on the situation and perspectives of migrant children in general, and unaccompanied and separated children in particular, much less insights are available on the situation in the MENA region, where a sizeable proportion of the global asylum seeking and refugee population resides. This work was designed to shed light on past and current dynamics that influence international migration (from and within the region), gather the perspectives and analyze the narratives of UASC in an attempt to understand the reasons that underpin the mobility of unaccompanied and separated children from and within the region, also with a view to provide recommendations on how to better provide for their specific needs in different contexts.
