About us

The Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean (MCP Med TI) provides quality assured learning experiences resulting in recognised qualifications and awards to a variety of migration actors, ranging from technical front-line governmental and NGO staff, to decision makers and thought leaders. Whilst its main aim is to deliver a full range of tailored learning and coaching products and solutions, it hopes to create a space for peer learning, mentoring, and fostering trust-based partnerships. The project is funded by Denmark, Malta, Austria and by the European Union, contracted by ICMPD through the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF)

  • ✨ Shaping the Future of Migration Policy ✨#Professionalisation We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the accredited training course, "Award in Migration Policy Development Essentials" jointly organised by Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean , the MIDAM Project , and the ProGreS Project, from 2-6 September 2024 at the MCP MED TI premises in Malta 🇲🇹. 🎓 This course welcomed 14 participants from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 🇯🇴 and the Republic of Tunisia 🇹🇳, representing key institutions such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, and the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment of Tunisia, alongside the Ministry of Interior and the Prime Ministry of Jordan. This initiative is part of our continued efforts toward enhancing the regional dimension of professionalisation in migration policy development. Designed to deepen participants' understanding of migration policy, the programme featured interactive discussions, 🗣️ case studies, and practical exercises, focusing on the policy cycle and the importance of data-driven decision-making.   • 🇱🇧 Enhancing Border Security: Dual Training Success in Lebanon We're thrilled to announce the successful completion of our joint induction training courses on Border Investigation Essentials and Core Skills for Front-line Migration Investigators. From July 21-25, 2024, a cohort of 12 dedicated personnel from the Lebanese Armed Forces, including 9 officers and 3 non-commissioned officers, underwent intensive training at our licensed facility in 📍 Rayak. This comprehensive training programme, conducted in 🤝 collaboration with the Netherlands' Assistance to Lebanese Border Agencies project (NL), equipped participants with essential skills to safeguard Lebanon's borders and manage migration challenges effectively. 🏆 Key Highlights: 1️⃣ Integrated approach: Both courses were conducted simultaneously, maximising efficiency and highlighting shared elements. 2️⃣ Expert guidance: Two training specialists led the sessions, ensuring top-quality instruction. 3️⃣ Tailored curriculum: Designed to address Lebanon's unique border security challenges and enhance investigative capabilities.   • Regional Networking and Capacity Development in Economic Diplomacy and Effective Diaspora Engagement 🤝 In the framework of the partnership between The Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean (MCP Med TI), the ProGres Migration Tunisia project and ICMPD in Tunisia a training on the Economic Diplomacy and Role of Diaspora was concluded in Tunis, Tunisia 🇹🇳. Held from 15-19 July 2024, the training brought together trainers and trainees from Jordan 🇯🇴 , Lebanon 🇱🇧 and Tunisia 🇹🇳 and provided EU-recognised 🇪🇺certificates to representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MSA) of Tunisia, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of Jordan. 📚 This comprehensive programme aimed to foster participants knowledge and skills to effectively engage with diaspora communities. The training included interactive discussions, case studies, role plays, and group activities. Key topics covered included: 1️⃣ The importance of trade in diplomatic missions and the responsibilities of trade representatives 2️⃣ The significance of remittances and diaspora investment 3️⃣ The roles of diaspora in heritage tourism and how to capitalise on them 4️⃣ Global trends and challenges in diaspora knowledge transfer and talent attraction mechanisms 5️⃣ Tools and best practices for diaspora data collection and outreach We extend our heartfelt thanks to ICMPD in Tunisia and the ProGreS Migration project for their invaluable support in making this training a success.   • 💻 Artificial Intelligence Essentials-Trainer Induction Course a Success! 📍 Amman, Jordan – 📆 from 30 June to 4 July 2024 The Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean successfully concluded the Artificial Intelligence Essentials - Trainer Induction Course in Amman, Jordan 🇯🇴. Held from 30 June to 4 July 2024 at the Ministry of Interior Training Centre, the course welcomed 14 participants from Jordan 🇯🇴, Lebanon 🇱🇧, and Tunisia 🇹🇳, representing the Lebanese Internal Security Forces, Lebanese General Security, Social Security Corporation of Jordan, and the Jordanian Ministry of Interior. The course gave participants a comprehensive understanding of the MCP Med TI processes, including training development and evaluation methodologies. 🔑 Key policies such as Code of Conduct, Data Protection, and Health and Safety were thoroughly discussed. Practical guidance on utilising the Trainer Manual for effective training delivery and assessment was also shared. A highlight of the course was the opportunity for participants to lead training sessions under close supervision and receive constructive feedback.     🟢🔵 #Modernisation and #Professionalisation drive #MigrationCapacityPartnerships 🟢🔵 Last week, we had the honour to host the Peer Exchange Preparatory Event for the 7th International Border Management Conference (IBMC) in Amman, Jordan 🇯🇴 on the 9-10th of July 2024. The event, titled "Embracing Modernisation: Artificial Intelligence and Digitalisation in Border Management," marked a significant step forward in our collaborative efforts to enhance border management practices and promote safe pathways for all. 🤝Organised within the framework of the Netherlands’ Assistance to Lebanese Border Agencies (IBM) - Phase V project, in partnership with the Training Institute on Migration Capacity Partnership for the Mediterranean (MCP Med TI) and the organising committee for ICMPD’s flagship International Border Management Conference 7th edition, under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 🇯🇴, the event brought together representatives from national and international stakeholders, including state institutions, border agencies, technical experts, and relevant organisations. 📱 Key objectives included defining the application of modern technologies in border management, identifying challenges and opportunities in integrating digital and AI solutions, and sharing successful strategies and best practices. 🌐 The opening session, moderated by Mohamed Alaâ Demnati, ICMPD Head of Office for Jordan and Lebanon, featured insightful keynote speeches from H.E. Mazin Abdellah Hilal Al Farrayeh, Minister of Interior of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 🇯🇴, Lt. Colonel Vincent van Ophem from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands 🇳🇱 in Lebanon, Brigadier General Amine El Kai of the Lebanese Armed Forces 🇱🇧, and Mr. Borut Eržen, Head of ICMPD Border Management and Security Programme. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our partners and counterparts for their invaluable contributions, and to the esteemed Ministry of Interior of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their constant support.
