A call to co-create the
2025 National Arts Festival

The call to submit proposals of works for the 2025 National Arts Festival Curated Programme is now open.

The call runs for seven weeks, from 05 August – 16 September.

Artists and producers are invited to submit their applications via our online application form. Applications are reviewed by the Festival’s artistic committee and successful works will be invited to present their works in Makhanda between 26 June and 6 July 2025.

Please note that a separate call will be opened for the 2025 National Arts Festival Fringe between 1 October-25 November 2024.

Standard Bank Young Artists presenting in 2025

The National Arts Festival, with Standard Bank South Africa annually award the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist Awards to recognize exceptional South African artists under the age of 35. These awards are envisioned as career catalysts for talented young artists across various disciplines .

The National Arts Festival Artistic Committee selects the Standard Bank Young Artist winners each year. For the 2024 winners, the Artistic Committee will open the possibility for members of the Arts Community to nominate contenders for the Standard Bank Young Artist awards, for the Artistic Committee’s consideration.

The deadline for submitting nominations is 18 August 2024, midnight (SAST).
