Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in part: The parliamentary opposition will come up with an initiative to create an NA [(National Assembly)] committee in September. The yet another investigative committee will deal with the investigation of the actions of the police against the participants of the [opposition] Tavush for the Homeland movement’s demonstration on June 12 at the NA courtyard.

Let's remind that during the rally of the opposition [that day], the law enforcement used special means: sound grenades, even the prohibited special means of Zarya 3 type. Just days after that, on June 26, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan "suddenly" made an illegal decision, erasing the crime. She changed the order "On establishing the permissible standards for the use of special measures being used against a person" and included the use of Zarya 3 among the series of permissible special measures.

According to the sources of Zhoghovurd daily, the petition for creating an [NA] investigative committee is already under processing, it will be submitted to the parliament at the beginning of the autumn session of the NA. According to the Rules of the National Assembly RA Law, "An investigative committee can be created at the request of at least a quarter of the total number of MPs (…)."

In other words, the [parliamentary] opposition can come up with the initiative to create an investigative committee, but the ruling power's vote will also be necessary to approve the draft.

The [ruling majority] CC [i.e. Civil Contract Faction of the NA] may not approve the composition of the committee, not submit a representative in the committee, defeating its creation.

Taking into account [PM] Nikol Pashinyan's statement that on that day "the police response was professional, in similar cases the police will act in the same way," we can be sure that the CC will defeat the creation of the committee.
