🎯 Check out our new learning offer and become Smart Against Ageism! 📛 Negative stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination based on age are known as “ageism”, which has been shown to cause cardiovascular stress, lowered levels of self-efficacy and decreased productivity. Across the EU, certain practices still reflect ageist prejudices and deprioritise, disregard, or even exclude older adults. Examples include health guidelines that only provide certain treatments for certain age groups, or educational programmes, insurance contracts and job offers with age limits... ▶ Our newest learning offer SAA (Smart Against Ageism) aims to reflect on this topic, giving multiple incentives to tackle assumptions against other individual based on their age! Under the Erasmus+ programme, organisations from Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Lithuania, Bulgaria and the Netherlands have developed several learning materials like an educational online game, a European compendium, a toolkit for trainers, and recommendations for policymakers to actively tackle age discrimination! ☑ If you would like to find out more about the educational offer, please have a look at our latest article on the EPALE-NL | Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe: https://lnkd.in/eVPbatkq ✅ You can also discover our Smart Against Ageism (SAA) online platform, where you can get direct access to all the materials created and interesting background information about ageism: https://saa-game.eu/ ISIS-Sozialforschung SHINE 2Europe AGE Platform Europe Alzheimer Bulgaria Association European Association for the Education of Adults - EAEA Stichting voor Inclusie en Discriminatiebestrijding (iDb) Carina Dantas luis dias Inês Saavedra Juliana Louceiro Marcel Neumann Jana Eckert Karin Stiehr Kalina Ekova edita satiene Christin Cieslak (she/her) Natália Machado Willeke van Staalduinen Jonas Bernitt Bart Borsje Sandra de Clonie Mac Lennan Javier Ganzarain Patricia Lucha Farina Ilenia Gheno Irina Ilieva Joana Vieira #SmartAgainstAgeism #SAAgame #ErasmusPlus

The #TRIO_EU partners are finishing up the project during their last Transnational Project Meeting that took place on Tuesday. During the meeting, which was held online, a walkthrough and evaluation was done of the main four TRIO outputs: the manual, the platform, the toolkit for educators, and the policy recommendations. In addition, the partners worked on a sustainability plan to assure the future usefulness and accessibility of the project. 📢AFEdemy participates in the German multiplier event for the SAA project! 📅 On Tuesday 25 June 2024, our partner ISIS-Sozialforschung presented the #SAA project in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. SAA (Smart Against Ageism) is a project that aims to reflect on social perceptions, giving multiple incentives to tackle assumptions against other individuals based on their age. In this context, several learning materials have been developed to enable a more thorough reflection of ageism, as a specific form of discrimination. Within the Muliplier event, the compendium was presented, which shows the perspective of those affected based on interviews in five European countries. In addition, the SAA educational game was shown and the partners from Alzheimer Bulgaria presented the recommendations for policymakers. All in all, the event was a complete success with many interested guests! The Chocoladefabriek in Gouda was again the platform for a great and fruitful meeting. From the 18th to the 20th of June our #YoungCare partners from Germany, Italy, Lithuania, and Portugal gathered both online and in person to discuss the progress of the project. The goal of this 3-day transnational meeting was the further development of the main output of the YoungCare project: the e-learning platform for informal carers of care dependent (young) adults, aged 18 to 65. The first day centred around the international modules that will be covered: Housing & Living, Leisure & Mobility, Participation & Employment, and Care & Support. Through break-out sessions, we had productive discussions on the content, tone, and interactivity of the platform. During the second day, the national topics were subjected to a similar approach, to ensure the usefulness and accessibility of the learning offer. The day also focussed on the time plan, sharing and promotion activities, and the upcoming multiplier event in Brussels, which will likely take place in May next year. On the third day we were accompanied by Ginette Klein from Ieder(in) and Jos Nieveen from MantelzorgNL, who provided the team with valuable insights into the needs and barriers of informal caregiving. On 11th of June, the presentation on the results of the Smart Against Ageism (#SAA) project took place in Leiden. During the meeting with policy officers and staff members of local governments, health and welfare organisations, and interest groups such as the support centre Migrants Leiden, Bart Borsje, on behalf of AFEdemy, age-friendly environments academy, presented the set-up and goal of the project, and the final results achieved such as the compendium, the recommendations to policy makers, the game developed and manual for trainers. Ample attention was paid to what should be understood by ageism or age discrimination, why it is important to know about it, learn to recognise it, and how to deal with it. This was explained through the design of the game and related policy recommendations, among other things. Several participants expressed their interest in playing the game and sharing it with others. On behalf of Stichting Inclusie en Discriminatiebestrijding (iDb), Mireille Bijnsdorp talked about how to recognise age discrimination, how to do something about it, and why it is important to talk about it. She mentioned several cases in which age discrimination may have occurred. The SAA game is currently only available via the English-language version of the project website (www.saa-game.eu). There, players can opt for the Dutch version, but it is still under construction. The final Dutch version is expected by the end of June. For playing the game please Firefox or Google Chrome as browser. The game aims to raise awareness of what impact age discrimination has, how to recognise it, and how to not only make it discussable but also do something about it.
