The war on Halloween

We fear it’s going to be a dull Halloween on campuses across the nation thanks to the war on “offensive” costumes.

After meeting with Tufts University’s dean of student affairs, the school’s Greek Life Council sent out a letter warning against “inappropriate, offensive, or appropriative costumes” — and any that “reproduce stereotypes on race, gender, sexuality, immigrant or socioeconomic status.”

No cross-dressing. Only pick a Disney princess who matches your heritage. And don’t go scary: “Outfits relating to tragedy, controversy or acts of violence” are taboo, too.

Campus cops are under orders to investigate any wrongly dressed kids — with the threat of university investigations to follow.

Other schools have issued similar warnings and/or offers of counseling for any students traumatized by others’ costumes.

Last year, a minor Yale official who dared question PC-Halloween diktats wound up being driven from the school, along with her husband, who dared defend her.

Tufts student Jake Goldberg got it right: “Universities around the country have fundamentally inverted the meaning of tolerance.” And don’t you dare joke about it.
