BROOKLYN, NY— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Roberta Dickerson who nominated Quincy René Dickerson of Brooklyn.

What makes this mom extra special?

What makes Quincy special is the fact that she’s one of the hardest workers and one of the most generous people on earth. She was always considered ‘an old soul’. She never caused her mother angst and always knew what time to be home without having to have a curfew set. She put herself through college earning two degrees on her own. She’s always been able to put things in proper perspective; thereby, having her only child in her mid-40s while working a full-time job throughout the pregnancy.

Since then, her life has been totally dedicated to providing for and rearing her daughter with the deepest love that any mother can give. I can’t begin to tell you just how very proud I am of her.
She’s my daughter and I couldn’t be more blessed!

Why do you feel this mom deserves the spotlight?

She deserves the spotlight because those she's had on movie sets and stages are in no way bright enough. She deserves a brighter one for not only shining her own spotlight on her daughter but for shining it on so many other children in NYC who needed one through her stint of working with them as they transitioned through New York’s Covenant House.

Happy Mother's Day to Quincy René Dickerson, and thank you for all you do!
