Portion Of F Train Line In Brooklyn To Be Shut Down This Summer

BROOKLYN, NY — F train service in southern Brooklyn is poised to be suspended for a number of weekends for much-needed repairs this summer, MTA officials said.

The F train line between Church Avenue and Coney Island will be closed next week on Friday, July 5 to Monday, July 8, and continue from July 12-15, according to the MTA.

The portion of the line's subway signal will need to be replaced with Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC).

Trains will be able to run closer together and operate at greater speed, The MTA said.

The line will be closed again the weekend of August 9 and through the weekend of August 23. The train will not be suspended the weekend of August 30.

During the shutdown, free shuttle bus service will operate between Church Avenue and Coney Island at all times, AMNY reported.
