Single storey house on the banks of the Black River which flows into Tamarin Bay: less touristy than the rest of the island, the region is no less essential. This small fishing village which has become a small seaside resort is renowned for its authenticity and renowned for its absolutely incredible sunsets. Set off to discover this little-known region of the island.

An authentic village
Located opposite the beach of Flic en Flac, separated by the Black River, the village of Tamarin is a place mainly frequented by Mauritians who meet in the evening on the beach. It is a small, peaceful village, far from the tourist bustle. Revealed to the world by the surf film The Forgotten Island of Santosha, in the 70s, it experienced a tourist boom at that time. Today less popular with tourists, Tamarin has become peaceful and authentic again. The village is still frequented by surfers, local fishermen and vacationers in search of sensations mingle. The atmosphere is relaxed, the evenings lively and the climate pleasant. There are a few shops and small supermarkets. Life here is peaceful.

Originally a small fishing village, Tamarin today offers the best of coastal life...many sporting activities: surfing, paddle, kayaking, trail running. We are also a few steps from many shops: supermarket, bakery and restaurants.
Getting to my home
After an 11-hour flight from France, you will land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport in the south-east of the island. It will take another 1 hour by car to reach the Riviere Noire region in the southwest. Take advantage of the coastal road which runs along the sea but is longer or go through the center of the island and take advantage of the booming road infrastructure. Arriving in Tamarin, you will be able to observe the development of the region with modern infrastructure and find yourself on a private path which goes down to our house along a wooded public park.
