@MusikAnimal @Bhsd On beta and locally, my edits to the 2017 editor are not visible. This happens with and without cm6enable=1 on both Firefox and Chromium.

@Quiddity I'm fine either way. Still I think this is a misunderstanding. From the user's perspective keyboard navigation in this dialog was completely broken and impossible to use. That was absolutely "preventing any kind of interaction for editors".

Fixed from 1.43.0-wmf.19 and in the future REL1_43.

I'm not going to include this particular piece, because as the description notes, "It's really only a line of CSS that's missing", and it wasn't preventing any kind of interaction for editors, hence it's not of major importance to widely translate and communicate. But the suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Client-side metadata extraction sounds like an interesting idea to both circumvent sites blocking Citoid (as mentioned in T362379) and to support sites which rely on the browser running some JavaScript code to display content.

I'm now on Android 10 using Firefox 129.0 and a larger phone. I see the following behavior on all articles I tried:

It happens for Math formula as well.

I suspect this edit broke it, shortly after the recent conversion from wikitext to JSON (/cc @Reedy).

To get the above stats, I've added some new panels to the dashboard:

"Outgoing requests by status" in the lower right hand corner reports the percentage which are 200, so this is our "success" rate, and the failure rate is just 100% minus that.

Unfortunately this includes some pdfs are "succeeding" because some pdfs return us a 200, so for the above data I've filtered out the pdfs in a hacky way by excluding *.pdf on the request url.

1. What field did you filter out *.pdf from? [i]
2. With .pdf approximately excluded, are there any other media types that we ought to try to exclude such that the metrics Outgoing requests by status return are specific to URLs? [ii]

• The behavior in your screenshot is technically correct, as far as I can see. The text on the left wraps around and continues below. There is enough room for the long word there. While there is word-break: break-all I wouldn't use it as it creates way to many unexpected and possibly confusing breaks. Hyphenation might be a possibility, but I'm afraid it's still not stable enough to work reliably in our 300+ languages environment.
• I'm not sure what you mean when you say "prominent". The font size is untouched. The gray text color is the one suggested by Codex.

Generally, a well chosen reference name is as relevant as the content to be able to quickly identify a reference in the list. The name is indexed and can be searched for. I would find it quite confusing when a user is able to find a reference but can't understand why it is found, because the name is invisible. We also still have the problem that some references don't render at all in VE. In such cases the name is the only information available.

Definitively an improvement now that the name does not interrupt or overwrite the content of the reference. I am doubting about the space and prominence the name gets though: to most VE users, the name means nothing, and is an element of the reference that they can not see or interact with anywhere else in VE. There is no way for them to find out why it is there and what it means, but it is very prominent in the re-use dialog now. Could we hide this functionality (to show the name in the re-use tab) under a preference or something, so it is accessible for advanced users who want to use it, but it will not confuse users that have no clue what a ref-tag and refname even are? If not, we should probably develop a better way to incorporate the concept of refnames into the VE editing experience. Do we know if this function is currently essential to any users?
