This summer, Max and Peacock have raised prices – and on the music front, so has Spotify. This comes after a wave of streamers increased their prices last fall, including Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+. But how much content are viewers actually getting for those hiked-up subscription fees?
Here is a ranking of the content libraries, by number of titles, of eight major streaming platforms in the United States, according to JustWatch.com, which tracks these figures.
Apple has the smallest number titles available on its streaming service among streamers on this list at 291. A subscription to Apple TV+ costs $9.99 a month.
Paramount Global’s streaming platform is home to 1,405 movies and tv shows. Plans for Parmount+ start at $5.99 a month.
For at least $7.99 per month, Disney+ subscribers get access to 2,000 titles.
Hulu, which is backed by Disney, has a slighlty larger number of movies and TV shows on its platform — 2,864. A subscription to Hulu starts at $7.99 a month.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max boasts 3,473 television shows and movies. Its subscription plans start at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year.
A standard plan for Peacock, the streaming service of NBCUniversal, costs $5.99 per month or $59.99 annually. In exchange, subscribers get access to 5,236 movies and television shows.
Netflix’s content library includes 6,855 titles. Its plans start at $6.99 a month.
Amazon’s Prime Video has the largest video streaming library, by a landslide among the other platforms on this list, with 18,002 titles. Amazon’s streaming service is included with the e-commerce giant’s Prime membership that costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. If you’re only interested in video streaming, you can subscribe to Prime Video as a standalone service for $8.99.
