maybe harsh take. but. shitting on people who can’t care about selves. who live with parents. who rely on partners in ‘basic’ tasks. (yes even body care tasks). who got chores done for them. who don’t work. is ableist. even if clarify 'this specific person isn’t disabled.’ it still perpetuates stigma. it still ableist.

say exactly what wrong. have they overstepped someone’s boundaries? have they pressured someone into care? have they manipulated abused etc.? something else? point wrong behavior. n critique this behavior.

'they’re 30 n live with parents’ not bad behavior. 'their parent cut their nails’ not bad behavior. 'they don’t work’ not bad behavior.

'but they’re abled!’ 1) you don’t know for sure. can’t know for sure. undiagnosed n invisible disabilities exist. not every undiagnosed individual able to take care of self. recognize undiagnosed n invisible disabilities existence not only when they look 'nice’ for you. 2) it still contributes to stigma around needing care. disabled people often not seen as disabled. even if visibly disabled. every individual presumed abled because ableism. so disabled individuals will be shitted on because need care. because presumed abled.

to destigmatize needing care. have to destigmatize getting care. even if not see as 'reasonable’ n 'justified.’ can’t destigmatize needing care if say 'getting care depending on others living with parents etc. is bad but disabled is exception.’ because still stigmatize process of getting cared.

people don’t need allowance n approval of society to get care.

(not say not call out bad behavior. ask call out bad behavior specifically. not stigmatized neutral things).

🧵 new CSP brushes up in my shop! 🧵

a real mixed bag of 39 lining, painting, detailing, and general decorative brushes with a hand-drawn edge made from scanned ink drawings/textures.

like most of my brushes these are rough, sharp, and fully opaque to fit in with bold art styles, with plenty of optional blending and colour variance. have a look if you’re inclined to expand your collection!

as usual, my full library of brushes can also be accessed through my patreon at any tier.

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people’s genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it’s working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren’t able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.

please do your own research and donate to refugee charities, anti-islamophobia charities, mosques who are trying to rebuild after being destroyed, counter protesters, here are some i’ve heard positive things about but the list is extensive; southport strong together (support for the southport victims and their families), emergency unity fund, southport mosque rebuilding, riot repair fund, middlesbrough vulnerable residents, nasir mosque rebuilding, hull help for refugees, bristol welcomes migrants,

on one hand i get why people are upset the newest edition of DnD is removing half-elves, half-orcs etc because it clearly meant a lot to people, especially people who were mixed irl

on the other hand oh my god have you fucking seen how dnd historically handled half-elves and half-orcs in official media like books because Jesus Fucking Christ It’s Bad

Like in the books I’ve read alone it is repeatedly, incredibly hammered in that elves shun and condescend half-elves and, at worst, view half-elves as mistakes made by their race that shouldn’t exist. You had characters who were absolutely full of dumb “I MUST CHOOSE MY ELVEN HALF…OR MY HUMAN HALF….BECAUSE MY HUMAN HALF IS MORE ADAPTABLE” bullshit. Dragonlance established a status quo for tragic half-elven characters who couldn’t fit in anywhere because one of the writers thought it was a swell idea to establish lorewise that all half-elven children born within a certain time period were all products of sexual assault and never like, backed down on that.

Like yeah it sucks that they’re outright removing it and not trying to find alternatives for it because a lot of people enjoyed it and made cool things with it. But like, uhhh. There’s a lot of precedent…for official writers looking at how DnD historically portrayed it and going “oh. Oh no. We do not want to carry that forward. No thank you.”
