Oliviero Riggio currently is a full professor of Gastroenterology at the Department of Translational and Precision Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. He is also the dean of the “C” Course in Medicine
of the Faculty of Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. Since July 2017, he has been the head director of the UOC of Gastroenterology at S.M. Goretti Hospital, Sapienza University of Rome. His research keywords are cirrhosis of the liver, portal hypertension, hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, malnutrition, and sarcopenia. He is a member of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF), the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE), and the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD). On behalf of AISF, he participated as an author in the development of the guidelines/consensus
documents on portal hypertension, vascular diseases of the liver (which includes non-cirrhotic portal hypertension), ascites, and hepatic encephalopathy.
