Gaspar Banfalvi was born in Nemesnadudvar, Hungary. Med. Univ. Szeged, Pharmacist. Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology, Szeged. He spent 2 two years at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Budapest). He obtained degrees (CSc, DSc, Med. Habil.) at the Department of Medical Chemistry, Budapest, Habil. Biol. at the University of Szeged. He took biology chair at the University of Debrecen (2000–2005). He is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Debrecen, Dept. Biotechnol. Microbiol.
He has taught medical chemistry and biochemistry (26 years), cell biology (20 years), genetics (15 years), physiology (12 years). Longer visits: 4 years BBRI-Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA; 6 months visiting prof. Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; 5 months Leiden University; 6 mo National Center for Toxicological Research, Jefferson, AR; 9 months visiting prof. Weizmann Institute, Rehovot, Israel.
