Prof. Dr. Haibin Liu studied at Northwestern Polytechnical University from 1981 to 1988, majoring in aeronautical and astronautical manufacturing engineering, obtaining his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, respectively, and went to Japan as one of the first Chinese joint-training doctoral students and MEXT scholarship recipients to study in Japan in 1990. He graduated from Hokkaido University, Japan, with a doctoral degree in engineering in 1995. From 1995 to 2004, he worked for Tokyo Electron Limited in Japan and Motorola in Japan and held senior technical and managerial positions. From 2004 to 2019, he worked for the China Academy of Space System Science and Engineering (China Academy of Space Research XII) as a chief engineer. In 2019, he was transferred to the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) as a leading talent. He currently serves as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mechatronics, Beijing Institute of Technology, and vice president of the Institute of Intelligent Machinery. His research interests include modern welding and intelligent manufacturing technologies, digital design, and advanced manufacturing technologies, as well as theoretical research on artificial intelligence.
