Information

Graduated in Chemical Engineering at the University of Naples "Federico II" in 1996, he attained his Ph degree in “Materials Technology and Industrial Plants”. Since 2000 he was a Researcher of Materials Science and Technology in the same University, and from 2011 he is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and Industrial Production. His scientific activity concerns: 1) use of natural zeolites either as cation exchanger in environmental field for removal of polluting cations from wastewaters or as adsorbent in depuration of gaseous effluents; 2) use of natural zeolites in the preparation and conditioning of the organo/zeolite/soil models with different suitable zeolites/organic matrices/soil ratios, to recover degraded and/or polluted soils by studying the ion-exchange properties of this complex; 3) study of the surface properties of natural zeolitized materials, analyzing their surface interaction with surfactant molecules (surface modified zeolites formation), to verify a possible as both cation and anion exchangers in environmental and biomedical fields; 4) synthesis and characterization of zeolites. For what concern the study of zeolites surface activity, from March, 1 to May, 28 2008, Dr. de Gennaro cooperated with Prof. Robert S. Bowman, Chairman of the Department of Earth and Environmental Science, working in the laboratories of New Mexico Institute of Mining e Technology, Socorro (New Mexico, USA).
