Sergio Aurelio Zamora-Castro has a Doctor of Engineering degree (2007-2010) with honors and a Doctorate in Education (2019-2021) at the Universidad del Pacifico Norte. He had a postdoctoral stay at UNAM (2010) and also achieved a master's degree in Soil Mechanics (2001-2003) from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ). He was then a Civil Engineer (1994-1999) at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS). He belongs to the National System of Researchers SNI 1 (2020-2029), has a PRODEP Profile, is a partner of the Mexican Society of Geotechnical Engineering (SMIG since 2016), a member of the International Society of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM), and a partner of the College of Engineers of Veracruz (since 2015). He has supervised 85 bachelor's theses, 12 master's theses, and 2 PhDs as a co-director. He has 35 publications in indexed journals and 45 in refereed journals, and has publications in international and national conferences. He has presented sustainable projects at the SBC (Social Business Creation in Montreal, Canada (2018 and 2019) and has taken part in international stays at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain and Cardiff University in London, United Kingdom. His research is focused on soil mechanics, environmental engineering, and civil engineering (specifically, sustainable construction and the creation of new materials). He is a full-time professor and has been assigned to the Faculty of Construction and Habitat Engineering, UV.
