Janaka B. Ekanayake (Fellow, IEEE) was born in Matale, Sri Lanka, in October 1964. He received a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Galaha, Sri Lanka, in 1990, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology, Manchester, UK in 1995. He is currently the Chair Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Galaha, Sri Lanka. He is also a Visiting Professor at Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK, and the University of Wollongong, Australia. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles in refereed journals and co-authored six books. His research interests include renewable energy generation and its integration and smart grid applications.
