Short Biography

Masahiro Todoh received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in mechanical science from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1994, 1996, and 1999, respectively. He was a research associate with the Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, from 1999 to 2004, and assistant professor and associate professor with the Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, from 2004 to 2005 and 2005 to 2018, respectively. He was invited as a guest professor with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland, from 2009 to 2010. He was appointed guest lecturer with the Kitami Institute of Technology, Kitami, Japan, in 2015, National Institute of Technology, Asahikawa College, Asahikawa, Japan, and Hokkaido University of Education, Sapporo, Japan, in 2018. He is currently a professor at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. His research focuses on biomechanics, especially bone mechanics and muscle mechanics. Within these areas, he has (co)authored more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 100 conference papers/abstracts, book chapters, and encyclopedia contributions. Prof. Todoh is the president of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, Hokkaido Branch, and the committee member of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Japanese Society of Biorheology. He is the commentator of the Japanese Society for Clinical Biomechanics and the Hokkaido Osteoporosis Society.
