Prof. Dr. Lúcio Cunha

Geographer. Full professor in Physical Geography at the Department of Geography and Tourism (Faculty of Letters - University of Coimbra) and researcher at the Center for Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT), where he coordinates the Group 1 - Nature and environmental dynamics. He is also foreign collaborator, in Brazil, of several Research Groups. He was director of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra (2004-2006), Director of the Department of Geography, President of the Portuguese Association of Geomorphologists (2003-2005; 2013-15); President of the National Commission of Geography (2012-2016) and Co-ordinator of the Centre of Studies on Geography and Territorial Planning – CEGOT (Universities of Coimbra, Oporto and Minho; 2013-2016). Throughout more than 40 years of university career he has developed work in the areas of the Geomorphology (Karst and fluvial), the Environmental Studies (Risks and vulnerabilities; Geoheritage) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applied to the Territorial Management, having developed his work in the Central Portugal, but also in Brazil, Argentina, Cabo Verde, Angola and Mozambique.
