I graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nicolaus Copernicus Medical Academy in Kraków, Poland, where I wrote my master’s thesis on the impact of ethanol on energy metabolism in Ehrlich ascites tumor cells in vitro. Currently, I am a researcher at the Chair of Medical Biochemistry, Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, where I wrote my doctoral dissertation on the pharmacological and biochemical properties of lipoic acid. My research interests include sulfane sulfur; hydrogen sulfide; sulfurtransferases; oxidoreductases; metabolism of amino acids; metabolic transformations of various sulfur compounds in all living organisms; and biochemistry and pharmacology of biothiols and sulfane sulfur compounds. I publish widely on these topics. I am also a co-author of several publications in the field of history of science. In addition, I am involved in scientific journalism. I cooperate with various media, and I am the author of many popular science articles. Tourist kayaking is my hobby.
