Ana R. Freitas is an Assistant Professor of Bacteriology and Microbiology at the University Institute of Health Sciences (TOXRUN@IUCS-CESPU) and an integrated Researcher at the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO@REQUIMTE) in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto. She graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2004 by Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, and obtained a Doctor degree at the same university in 2011 in close collaboration with the Hospital Ramón y Cajal, Madrid, Spain. Currently, she is the secretary of the Food- and Water-borne Infections Study Group from the prestigious European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), a trusted scientific reviewer from ESCMID, and a member of the UCIBIO Communication Working Group. She works in the field of Health Sciences and Infectious Diseases and has developed research in antimicrobial resistance for >15 years. She published 50 articles in international peer-reviewed indexed journals of high-impact and three international book chapters and has sound international networking as demonstrated by her numerous collaborative papers with >100 different co-authors from 16 countries and a regular invitation to act as a referee in high-impact journals covering diverse knowledge areas related to Infectious Diseases and Microbiology (publons.com/a/1230597/) or as an expert for European agencies (EFSA) or research centers.
