1. Summary of training and clinical interests
Dr. Sergio Verd is originally from Uruguay. He earned his medical degree from the Free University of Barcelona (UAB) at the age of 21. He completed his Ph.D and paediatric training at the University of Barcelona Children’s Department (UB), and completed his neonatal training at the All Saints Hospital, Kent, UK. Dr. Verd has a particular interest in research on breastfeeding as well as fever. He has directed Ph.D. theses in Neonatal Medicine and authored more than 50 articles in medical journals. While working for the Children’s Unit of the Balearic Department of Public Health, he reported a link between childhood cancer and radioactive lightning rods; subsequently, all these rods were dismantled in Spain.
2. Accomplishments in field and affiliations
Dr. Verd has forty years of experience in Paediatrics, with a special interest in Neonates, Casualty, Public Health and Ambulatory Paediatrics. He is a founding member of the first Spanish Milk Bank at the Majorcan Blood and Tissue Bank. In addition to his clinical practice, he is on the board of Pro Nins, an organization providing medical care and surgery to Majorcan children with special needs.

Dr. Verd resides in the countryside of Majorca with his wife and two dogs. He enjoys spending time with his granddaughter. He likes biking, running, and meditation.
