Prof. Guiyang Shi currently serves as a professor at Jiangnan University, College of Biological Engineering/National Engineering Laboratory of Food Fermentation Process and Technology. He received a doctorate in Fermentation Engineering from Wuxi Light Industry University in 1995. From 1998 to 1999, he was funded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and engaged in post-doctoral research at Jingdong University, Japan. Since 2006, he has been a professor in the School of Biological Engineering at Jiangnan University and the head of the microbial fermentation process engineering team. Prof. Guiyang Shi's main research direction is rational design based on synthetic biology, fully tapping the capacity of microbial cell factories to produce bulk chemicals on a large scale. As the project leader, he undertook 10 national and provincial projects, including 863 key projects and science and technology support plans. He published 73 SCI papers in authoritative journals as a corresponding author and obtained 42 authorized invention patents, including 4 international patents. In addition, Prof. Guiyang Shi won 5 scientific and technological awards, including the second prize of the National Technological Invention Award.
