RNDr. Zuzana Sumbalová, PhD. is an expert in the field of mitochondrial respirometry and physiology. Her research is focused on mitochondrial bioenergetics in various diseases. She studied mitochondrial function in animal models of diseases such as Huntington's disease, dementia of the Alzheimer type, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis. Within a long-term cooperation with Oroboros Instruments (Austria), she participated in the development of methods for high-resolution respirometry. In recent years, her research is focused on blood cell respirometry in human medicine.
