Dr. O.M. Ogunyemi is a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his Ph.D. studies in the same University. Before joining University of Ibadan as a Faculty, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Benjamin S. Carson (Snr.) College Of Health And Medical Sciences, Babcock University, Nigeria; Department of Biosciences, Salem University, Nigeria. He was also a Research Technologist at the Medical Genetics and Bioethics Laboratories, Institute of Advance Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT), Ibadan, Nigeria and a visiting scientist to the Food Security and Safety Research Niche, North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa. He has won several awards and was a recipient of the African-German Network of Excellence in Science Mobility grant. He has authored several publications on nutraceuticals and functional foods in reputable journals. He currently serves as the Managing Editor of Salem Journal of Life Sciences (SUJOLS) and a reviewer for Computers in Biology and Medicine. He is a co-founder of the Phytochemistry and Bioinformatic Network (PhytoBioNet) and the pioneer leader of the Human Nutraceticals and Bioinformatics Research Niche, Salem University. His research laboratory studies protein receptors and signaling in human diseases, and uses a multidisciplinary approach to identify potential modulators as nutraceuticals and lead compounds for therapeutic development.
