Short Biography

Prof. Jair C. C. Freitas (http://blog.ufes.br/jairfreitas, https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4474-2474) is a full professor at the Department of Physics, Federal University of Espírito Santo, and head of the Laboratory of Carbon and Ceramic Materials (LMC). Jair Freitas received his B.Sc. in Physics in 1992, from the Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil; his M.Sc. in Physics in 1994, from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos, University of São Paulo, Brazil; and his Ph.D. in Physics in 2000, from the Brazilian Centre for Physics Research, Brazil. Later, he spent two periods as visiting researcher, working with applications of solid-state NMR, at the University of Warwick (2006-2007) and the University of East Anglia (2018), both in the UK. He has strong background in Condensed Matter Physics and Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy. His current main research interests comprise basic and applied investigations of graphenic materials, porous carbons, lignocellulosic materials, petroleum, and derived products. His research group conducts computational and experimental activities dealing with carbon-related materials, with a special emphasis on the use of solid-state NMR spectroscopy as a tool for structural/chemical characterization of graphenic materials at the atomic scale.
