Carla M. Lopes is an associate professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University Fernando Pessoa (UFP, Porto, Portugal). She is an integrated researcher in the MEDTECH, Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Technology, Department of Drug Sciences (FFUP, Porto, Portugal) of the Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit (UCIBIO), as well as a collaborator researcher at the RISE, UFP and I3ID, FP-BHS Unit (UFP, Porto, Portugal). She graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2001) and obtained her Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Technology (2006), both from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (Portugal). Her research interests include the rational development of both lipid- and/or polymeric-based pharmaceutical systems, namely colloidal carrier systems, that can control the therapeutic agent`s delivery across biological barriers; their pharmacotechnical characterization and performance evaluation for different applications (pharmaceutical, food industry and cosmetical). Carla M. Lopes is the author or co-author of various peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters.
