Surajit Kar is currently working as a doctoral fellow at the University of Calcutta, Department of Geography, in West Bengal, India. His research focuses on Rural Water Security (RWS) and wasteland dynamics, particularly in the dry Sub-humid region of West Bengal. His interdisciplinary approach integrates water and land dynamics to address dry land regional sustainability. He has been a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (IBG), London, UK, since 2019, and serves as a scientific reviewer for World Water Policy (WWP) at WILEY, Blackwell. Previously, Surajit Kar worked as a project scientist on "Water Security for the Tribal and Other Backward Classes in Purulia district of West Bengal, India," under the Ministry of Backward and Welfare Department of West Bengal, India. Additionally, he has experience as a research scientist at the Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata (IDSK).
