Information

Graduated in Human Nutrition (Uni-Rio), MSc in Biochemistry (2000), and PhD in Food Science (2004), both at the Institute of Chemistry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, studying human fatty acid metabolism. In 2018–2019, he spent a sabbatical year at the University of Cambridge, UK. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he works in scientific research and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses. Since 2006, he has been a permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Food Science (UFRJ), in which he served as coordinator between 2013 and 2018, contributing to the training of human resources in the area. In his research, he is interested in the chemistry and biochemistry of lipids in foods and their metabolism and bioactivity in humans, aiming to impact human health (translational research) through foods with improved qualities.
